Journey to complete works

Sometimes it can be a long journey to complete a work.  Some paintings seem to take on a path of their own and I just follow on.  I try many things to achieve a certain texture, light or atmosphere.

Looking at the first image here;..scene 1..  on canvas, 24 x 20ins, I was’nt happy that it captured the scene in the way I wanted to present it.

In scene 2 I still was’nt happy with it.

Got my rags ready..scene 3…don’t they look artistic?!…spilled some thinned paint on the still wet painting..

Scene 4…what a glorious mess!..no wonder I’m always covered in oil stains!

In scene 5 I press the rags on the image to soak up some of the  excess fluid and some interesiting shapes show up.  Yes!..

Scene 6 is more like it.  I can never predict what will happen with this method but it is good fun and I can manipulate it a bit to capture the Connemara landscape…sometimes, if I’m lucky!!
